National Music Week Essay Contest

National Music Week Essay Contest for students in grades 7-12

National Music Week is celebrated each year during the first full week in May (first Sunday through the second Sunday). The purpose of the week is to make the public aware of the importance of all forms of music in our lives and to encourage participation in the celebration either as a performer or listener.

  • Length of Essay: 500 words
  • All Essays must be typed
  • Essays will be judged on neatness and legibility, and content

An award of $50.00 from the Agnes Fowler Endowment is given to the winner in each of the 50 states. An Award of Merit Certificate will be given to each winner and their teacher.

Deadline for the entry form, along with essay, to the regional chair is January 10.
